Pretty on-target political satire in the mockumentary style. Robbins plays Roberts (who is something like Alex Keaton on steroids, only without the humor), a nearly Fascist folk singer millionaire running for Senate. Throughout the whole film we wish for his comeuppance; that we don't get it is a sign of the film's integrity. Funny and a little scary, with some great roles by a surprising Gore Vidal, and the always great Alan Rickman. (9/14/92)
