Cutter's Way

Hmmmmmmm. Or maybe "huh?" A moodily repressive little picture about a Viet Nam vet (crippled) who becomes obsessed with pinning an ugly murder on a local bigwig, thereby clearing his buddy. That's the surface plot; what it's really about is not much, though it seems to think it is. But the characterizations are really good, and the picture is great at capturing the dead-end paradise atmosphere of Southern California, and the people who live there. Jeff Bridges stars again and damn if I can remember who plays Bone (Picture originally titled “Cutter and Bone,” but changed when they thought it sounded like a movie about a butcher. No joke).
