Elektra
A sleek action movie starring a very fit Jennifer Garner. The picture looks like a music video, or maybe a commercial for a high-end health club, and it has about as compelling a story line. Elektra is based on the comic book character, and was introduced as a peripheral character in the Ben Affleck flop “Daredevil;” we can only conclude that the producers figured people would still be willing to pay to see Garner, dressed in tight outfits, committing martial arts mayhem. And you know what? They may be right. The movie is not so much awful as it is disappointing. You sense an interesting dynamic struggling to get out (remember, she is a contract killer!) but the writers seem to have been unable to come up with an engaging story, a compelling romance, or even a worthy opponent. They fall back on mood and lighting, and those can take you only so far.
