On Deadly Ground

Hmmmm... let's see.... Lot's of mayhem, easily identifiable, evil bad guys, and one strong good guy who's a martial arts wiz, a weak plot and a lot of gunfire, and a wordfully insulting part for a beautiful woman...YUP! It's a Seagal picture all right. To be fair, Steve does a pretty good job as a first-time director, but the picture needed more fisticuffs and less proselytizing (I mean, is rich Steve--who can afford it--driving an electric car?). But as usual the film satisfies our primal urge to see the bad guys get the stuffing whumped out of them. They could have used tougher villains though; even the worst of this lot hardly causes Steve a sniffle. (2/22/94)
