The Age of Innocence

Written by: Scorsese et al Starring: Daniel Day-Lewis, Winona Ryder, Michelle Pfeiffer A fourteen karat yawn fest. I hope the book was better than the movie, because the movie was a drag. Ten demerits to Day-Lewis for this flat performance. Ten demerits to Pfeiffer for the bad hair (obviously intended to show what a rebel she is). And ten demerits to Scorsese for making this tale of manners into such a lifeless, stultifying bore. I will grant an Oscar, however, to the set and costume designers. Unfortunately, that's not enough. (9/27/93)
