The Natural

Maybe I'm just a romantic, but I really like this picture a lot. I think Redford's great, I think the film is beautiful, and I think it perfectly captures the sssence of what makes baseball the national sport. Plus, I'm a sucker for all the big payoff moments, which are handled beautifully. I don't care that they changed the ending of Malamud's book--if they had left it the same, I probably would have cried. Besides, Randy Newman wrote the scone, so what could be bad?
