We Were Soldiers

Like "Black Hawk Down," two plus hours of purely realized combat in the service of... what, exactly? The startling notion that war is awful and wasteful? That young Americans fought bravely in the earliest days of the Vietnam conflict? (That young Vietnamese did, too?) Technically accomplished, but as with Black Hawk Down, I am left looking for something more, something deeper.
