A Very Long Engagement

A beautifully shot romantic detective story--there is no other way to describe it--that takes place in France during and after World War I. Audrey Tautou plays Mathilde, a woman searching for her fiancé, who reportedly died in the war. Mathilde's instincts tell her otherwise, and the movie leaps back and forth in time as she tries to uncover the truth about what happened in a desolate trench in the middle of battle. Vibrant, vivid, engrossing, and highly worthwhile.
