Dragnet

I think John Landis directed this. Figures. If he didn't, he should have; it's that bad. Tom Hanks and Dan Aykroyd are wasted as cop partners in this updating of the 60s TV show, played for laughs. Unfortunately, there aren't any. You know there is something wrong when the picture trashes its best source of humor (the contrast between uptight Dan and groovy Tom) in the first five minutes by getting Tom cleaned up. Stupid? Stupid!! Aykroyd is still the best straight man in the movies, but after a short while you realize that that is ALL there is in this picture; and that is not enough to carry it for hours. Also included is a stupid “Temple of Doom” like denouement... hardly a role model for any filmmaker. Insipid, unfunny, and ennervating. A true failure.
