Dragon

Starring: Jason Scott Lee, Lauren Holly

A reverential hagiography of the late star. Generally well made, and star Lee (no relation) does a convincing impression of Bruce. The fight scenes are excellent. The only problem--and it's a big one--is similar to that of the kung fu pictures Lee made: I don't believe most of the stuff. I know Bruce was a phenomenally gifted martial artist and athlete, and he certainly had charisma, but the character presented here is nearly divine. Aside from the broad outlines of the biography, everything seems made up for maximum movie-going thrills. I guess that's OK, as long as you don't take it too seriously. (5/13/93)
