Frailty

A man (Matthew McConaughey) walks into the Dallas FBI office and claims to know the identity of a serial murderer known as the "God's Hand" killer. Thus begins this moody, atmospheric thriller, about two young boys trying to come to terms with a father for whom the term "dysfunctional" is an understatement. Bill Paxton (who also stars) directs with a sure hand and draws good performances from his fine cast. The movie is involving throughout, but ultimately, the extended flashback construction, voiceover narration, and plot twists are a bit too convoluted for its own good.
