Jurassic Park
Written by: Michael Crichton and another guy Starring: (humans) Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill, Laura Dern
Great computer-generated dinosaurs, period. I mean really, that's it. The humans might as well have phoned it in; they don't have much to do except look amazed or scared as the situation demands. A truly lame brained script ruins what is by all accounts a pretty good book. Without a doubt the dinosaurs are a thrilling spectacle; it's just that whenever they were off screen I wanted to take a nap. Goldblum has the closest to what might be called a role, and he gets all the best lines, but he can't float this lumbering behemoth. Never have so many dollars done so little for so many more dollars. This isn't a movie, it's a money generator, and it's working just fine thank you, so I guess my niggling little criticisms are irrelevant. (6/11/93)
