Open Water

A brutally unsentimental thriller about a young couple accidentally left in the shark infested ocean by their dive boat crew (based on actual events, in fact). There are a few scare moments, but no outright gore. What the movie does very well is capture the couple's surmounting sense of dread at near certain impending death. The opening sequences economically sketch the likeable couple (well played by the two leads), to the extent that we cannot help but be depressed by the ending. I won't say anything more than that.
