Stormy Monday
A moody, brooding picture about a young Englishman who gets involved with Melanie Griffith and a ruthless American businessman (Tommy Lee Jones). Sting gives a marvelously understated performance as a pub owner who refuses to be cowed by the mob. A competent job, and fairly diverting, but served up so matter-of-factly, so flatly, that the picture seems to be maintaining your interest despite itself. Not exactly cheer-you-up kind of stuff, if you know what I mean.
