The Presidio

Mark Harmon and Sean Connery do a bit of dueling here as the commandant and the cop who used to be his subordinate, but of course ultimately the two team up and solve the big murder case (and Harmon even gets Connery's approval to date his daughter). The plot tries hard (maybe too hard) but it's a bit wobbly, but both the leads get to show how tough they are in the course of rooting out the bad guys. But for all the huffing and puffing, this is pretty pedestrian stuff, not nearly as gripping as “True Believer,” which was in a similar vein. You just kind of wait for things to get resolved, but you don't really care that much. And the romantic and parent/daughter subplots are more of a distraction than anything else. Even Connery is not as believable as usual here, almost as if he didn’t have too much faith in his script. Can't say as I blame him.
